Guidelines

For all submissions:

Blood & Honey Review welcomes submissions of previously unpublished work from writers and artists anywhere in the world. We do not pay for published work except work specifically submitted for contests. We retain rights for electronic publication and one-time rights to include a given work in our annual printed anthology. All other rights revert to the author upon publication. Simultaneous submissions are acceptable, but please notify us if a piece is published elsewhere.

Blood & Honey Review accepts electronic submissions only. Please do not send anything by regular post except books for review.

Please include with your submission a cover letter with your name, address, phone number, email address, and title(s) of submissions. Make sure your name appears in the header of every page of every submission, and please number your pages in "page x of y" format.

Poetry

No maximum or minimum word count, but please send no more than five (5) poems per submission period. Poetry should be single-spaced with one poem per page (poems of multiple pages are acceptable).

Fiction

No maximum or minimum word count. B&HR publishes literary fiction only. Please double space your writing. Please submit no more than three stories during any submission period.

Essays

No maximum or minimum word count. Essays may be academic or ‘creative’ in nature. Please double space your writing and submit no more than three essays during any submission period.

Photography

Photographers are requested to send electronic portfolios of no more than ten photos and in JPEG format. We request that original submissions be 400 DPI. Works selected for publication may be resubmitted in a higher quality format.

Reviews

Five hundred (500) word max. Please double space your writing and submit no more than three reviews during any submission period. B&HR editors are open to reviewing new works of fiction, poetry, or creative non-fiction only. Please do not send reviews of movies, websites, television, and etc. The editors of B&HR are open to reviewing works for authors or publishers. Authors are requested to query with a one-page cover letter describing the work. Publishers are requested to submit a hard copy of the book for review.
